Gibbston is the coolest subregion of Central Otago, and this cool year has given Valli's 2020 Pinot Noir Gibbston Vineyard a distinctly cool aromatic expression akin to raspberries, dried herbs, pine and tomato. Light in body, it is a mouthwateringly fresh, precise style with a touch of playfulness. While there's clearly some good concentration and fine latticelike tannins, it doesn't quite push through on the finish, pulling up a little short. Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous
