Vinified for 14 months in 600-liter oak barrels, the 2016 Sancerre Jadis, grown on Kimmeridgian marl soils and bottled unfiltered, offers an intense but elegant, refined and matured nose of tropical fruits such as mango and passion fruit intermixed with coolish notes of crushed and weathered stones and some very discreet oaky notes. Full-bodied, intense and elegant yet already developed and with slightly matured fruit aromas, this is a more creamy but tight Sancerre with a ripe and slightly dry finish. The wine has significantly lost potential in the last two years; thus, I recommend enjoying the Jadis young, which will give you an excellent Sancerre. Tasted in February 2021.
