Deepish red colour with a tint of purple at the rim, and a gently funky, vegetal, sulfide-tinged bouquet that suggests whole-bunch and some toasty oak. Although far from a pristine, fruity, aromatic pinot it has mystery and savoury umami complexity as well as depth and weight on the palate. It has the body and structure to go with stronger foods than the many lighter pinots. An impressive wine with oodles of character and plenty of grip, which is great drinking now and would reward cellaring.
