Collection: BODEGAS MAURO & GARMÓN CONTINENTAL PROMOTION

Bodegas Mauro and Garmón Continental are renowned for crafting high-quality wines through a blend of traditional techniques and modern innovation, with the former founded by Mariano García (a former chief winemaker of Vega Sicilia for 30 years) in 1980 and the latter representing a project of the García family, reflecting their deep-rooted expertise in winemaking, and committed to excellence from the very beginning.

Bodegas Mauro is located in the historic town of Tudela de Duero, in the province of Valladolid, just 19km from the provincial capital right in the heart of the Duero Valley. The wine was first made in a large restored 17th century house, a magnificent example of traditional architecture with underground storage facilities. This house currently holds aging rooms and a historical bottle rack. A new winery was built with a sleek design just outside Tudela de Duero in 2004. Following several expansion periods, all the production processes from harvesting to bottling are now centralised at these facilities.

Spreading across 100 hectares with an average vine age of 35 years and yields of between 3,000 and 5,000 kilograms of grapes per hectare; their primary grape varietal is Tempranillo, which sets the character given its firm structure, delicateness and mature tannins. Other varieties are also grown in minority such as Syrah (freshness and fragrance) and Cabernet Sauvignon (vigour and precision). Their vineyards are organically grown with a gradual conversion to biodynamic farming as a guarantee for preventive and sustainable viticulture which helps extend the life of the soil and foster biodiversity.

Garmón Continental is the García family’s (Bodegas Mauro and San Román Bodegas y Viñedos) commitment to ancestral, smallholder viticulture based on old, vineyards of low vigour situated in high, cool, and continental riverside areas with a long maturity cycle. It is a passionate and exclusive completely family-run vineyard project focusing on the Tempranillo o Tinto Fino variety. The 2014 vintage was the first for Garmón, the only wine produced at the all-new winery of the same name built over a three-hectare plot in “Pago de la Barca” opposite the Duero as it passes through Quintanilla de Onésimo and Olivares in the heart of the Ribera del Duero region.
