I’m delighted to report that Johannes Hasselbach has joined the growing ranks of Rheinhessen growers showcasing top vineyards in the form of Kabinett, though chagrined to learn that this is his second such bottling and I missed out on its vintage 2015 predecessor. Tangerine, lime and white peach are tinged with smoke and crushed stone on the penetrating nose and the buoyant, polished, lusciously and brightly juicy palate. Forty grams of residual sugar are nicely held in check by nine grams of acidity. This finishes with consummate refreshment as well as invigorating tang and grip. David Schildknecht, Vinous
