Tolpuddle Vineyard has long enjoyed a remarkable reputation among wine lovers. A north-east facing site just 20ha in size located in Coal River of Southern Tasmania, the vines here were planted over 30 years ago in 1988. Their unique terroir yields intensely flavoured grapes, propelling their wines to acclaim as Tasmania's (potentially Australia's) most sought-after release. Now fully mature, these healthy and thriving vines produce exceptional Chardonnay and Pinot Noir year after year, making Tolpuddle a true rising star of Tasmania and one of the finest single vineyards in Australia. Both their Chardonnay & Pinot Noir have been recently named in the latest edition of Langton's Classification (The Premier Guide To Australian Fine Wine) under the "Classified" category.

As for the 2022 vintage, it was the coldest vintage experienced in more than a decade. Cool conditions especially around the time of flowering resulted in a combination of low yields and concentration of flavour. These cooler conditions which persisted throughout the entire growing season culminated in great natural acidity, now synonymous with Tolpuddle Vineyard fruit. As such, they certainly did not disappoint; with their Chardonnay (produced in a strong year despite of low yield) receiving yet another superb score of 97 points by Robert Parker Wine Advocate due to its great intensity and excellent balance; while it is a very strong year especially for their Pinot Noir (not rated yet), as there are complexity, power and balance (as noted by the winemaker). This certainly makes 2022 a very exciting year for Tolpuddle, and definitely one of the vintages to look out for.
